Open-Source Initiatives and Contributions
TekOps, Inc. strongly believes in the open-source community and has both projects and has contributed freely to other projects as identified here. Back in the late 1970's when microcomputers became a reality "techies" openly shared their ideas, published all of their hard work openly and freely in an effort to advance the microcomputer industry. Later came the patent-mongers and business models were developed around. The early 90's saw the end of open collaboration by and large. Then, when Linux appeared and was accepted globally a whole new community appeared and incredibly hard-working, talented people, and business have freely shared their technology to promote technological advancement. RedHat is one of the most notable major success stories, others include Zend's PHP, Digium's Asterisk, The Apache Foundation, MySQL, and many others.
| OpenSource Project | Owner | Summary |
| gnuTAR - Tape ARchive Utility (gnuTAR) | GNU | We contributed the code enhancement which included the octal represenation of the translation table so that it would compile in pre-ANSI-C (K&R) compilers (such as cc in SCO 2.1.3) |
| Vtun - Virtual Tunnel (software VPN/routing solution) | VTun Development Team | We solved compiling Vtun against lzo v2.02 from redhat 6.1 all the way up through RHEL4 under gcc. . |
| Informix PHP PDO Interface | IBM/Informix | IBM's Redbook series did not cover this subject adequately. We contributed both compile/installation solutions and examples to both IBM's archives and the International Informix User Group's forum related to this issue with definitive solutions and have implemented PHP-PDO against Informix in numerous non-homogenous environments. We also documented the solution at Zend's PHP home site, subsequently expanded upon by other users successfully. |
| SugarCRM | SugarCRM | We have contributed numerous bugfixes to the SugarCRM CommunityEdition that have been accepted into the code-base by SugarCRM. |
We continue to give back to the community!
